2022 Father’s Day Gifts

Father Day Gifts

You may be wondering why this paragraph is headed Father Day Gifts instead of Father's Day Gifts.

The reason is that apparently more people search for "father day gifts" than search for "father's day gifts". I guess they just can't be bothered typing the 's. So I'm using that term to help those people to find my "father day" gift suggestions.

Inspirational Book

Arnold Palmer A Life Well Played

You don't have to be a golfer to appreciate the late Arnold Palmer's book A Life Well Played.

This book is Palmer’s parting gift to the world -- a treasure trove of entertaining anecdotes and timeless wisdom that readers, golfers and non-golfers alike, will celebrate and cherish. No one has won more fans around the world and no player has had a bigger impact on the sport of golf than Arnold Palmer. In fact, Palmer is considered by many to be the most important professional golfer in history, an American icon.

"A wonderful compilation that reflects who he was as a person, as a golfer, and as someone who believed in giving back. He was a champion at each turn, and it was an honor not just knowing him and competing against him for nearly 60 years, but also being his friend." ―Jack Nicklaus, from the foreword.

A great gift for any Dad on Father's Day.

Cobra Golf Men's 2019 F-Max Superlite Offset Driver

1. Select the Right Driver

Huge advances in driver technology have been made in the past few years.

One of the important factors is loft. Sir Isaac Newton invented the branch of mathematics known as the differential calculus in the late 17th century to calculate accurate trajectories for cannon balls and it still applies to golf balls today.

Loft is the angle that the driver's club face makes to the vertical lie of the golf ball as it strikes it.

If you have an older golf driver, it will probably have a loft of 7 or 8 degrees.

A modern driver, as well as being made of higher technology materials, will have a loft of somewhere between 9 and 11.5 degrees, including half-degree graduations.

10.5 degrees seems to be the sweet spot for most average players. It will get the ball into a nice trajectory that gives maximum distance coupled with increased accuracy.

If you have an older driver, consider upgrading to one of our recommendations HERE (opens in new window).

TaylorMade Golf M5 Driver (460cc)

TaylorMade Golf M5 Driver (460cc)

This is an Amazon review from a genuine purchaser of this club:

"This club is amazing. Coming from an SLDR, the improvement in my shot is immense. Having hit the M3 Driver last year, this years does show improvements. The sound of this club at contact is amazing, and will let you know when you make a great shot. You can really feel your shot with the club and will give you feedback as to how well your shot was without even watching the ball flight. The mis-hits on this club are still very accurate with Twist Face and the adjustability makes this club able to fit to a variety of swings. I can't stress enough the importance to be fitted, go to a local store and get fitted for the club, know what loft and shaft you need for this club, it makes a difference in the way it performs for you. In my comparison having tested both M5 and M6 with the same shaft and loft; I found the M6 to feel as if I have nothing on the end of the shaft. It was far too light in my opinion and this feels much heavier. This is all based on personal presence though, hit both and see what you prefer. The M6 is more forgiving of a club due to the weight being placed in the back, but the same can be achieved with this club by placing the weight in the furthest back position. You can feel the quality of this club from the headcover to the club itself. I found myself hitting the ball more consistent than ever before with this club, and the view of the club at approach is amazing with the matte black top. Overall I would highly recommend this club, It is an investment but well worth it in my case, get fitted, try M5 and M6 and then make a decision based on how each fits your game and swing; you won't be disappointed either way!"
